Should you write a book review on Amazon? Oh, YES, please!  

Writing Amazon reviews for books takes more time and effort than with other products as you have to read the book first. But if you liked the story, then please consider sharing your thoughts. It’s not just to pat the author on the back, although reader’s encouragement and support is always appreciated. It also affects how many other people will ultimately read the novel.

You see, to read the book, people must find it first, and Amazon doesn’t do any favors to first-time authors. Too few reviews, and it will hide the book in some dusty corner of its digital marketplace where even a team of search and rescue dogs wouldn’t be able to sniff it out! The more reviews a book has, the more likely will it be to appear in Amazon search results. With enough reviews it may appear as a recommendation in Amazon’s “Customers who bought this also bought” suggestions. It may not see like a lot, but every little thing helps!

The number of reviews can even determine if the author is allowed to advertise the book on some sites. You have fifty reviews? Please, go ahead. Less than fifty? Sorry, come back later. Is that fair?  Maybe it is, but when it’s your first book that just came out, it can also be very frustrating.

So, if you liked the novel, please, take a minute, let Amazon know. That, incidentally, will make it easier for me to bring you the rest of the story.

P.S. Any Amazon customer can leave a review regardless of where they got the book. It may be purchased from Amazon or from any other vendor that carries the title – e.g., iBooks, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Scribd, eSentral, Vearsa, Gardners. Maybe you bought a print copy from BookBaby or obtained it at a Meet the Author, got it as a birthday present or found it on a friend’s shelf. It doesn’t matter. You can still leave a review.
